The quick version

I'm going to go back as soon as I can and reply to the comments on the last post but just want to say that Pixie didn't end up staying here and whatever she had going on logistically is resolved and she isn't staying with us.

I'm now stuck with the kid's computer which is as slow as can be and I can't really go nd read other blogs using this one because everything loads slow because of the system. It feels like back in the day of being on dial-up! Between that and my working overnight shifts and having my sleep screwed I just haven't been able to get my tail in here. Daddy says that our tax refund will be here before we know it and I just have to hold out until then, but if Jabber is getting a $200 video gaming system for Christmas then you better believe that I'm thinking there'd better be a new computer for me under that tree! Mystery's list is looking a little light so far this year, for her. I think that she's hoping for a cash amount that blows her away and Daddy and I have already discussed getting her a bank Visa card and having her get some experience managing that. You know, a card that is purchased and only worth up to the value paid for it? We'll see.

Anyway, I'll try to post again soon but the biggest itch that I have is to go and read the rest of your blogs! I miss knowing what's up with everyone and will probably send a bunch of comments out one day soon if I go to my friend's house and watch her kiddo for her so that I can use her computer!

Message boards. Lov'em or leave'em?

I'm finding myself going deeper and deeper into this blogging stuff! Several years ago I started going to message boards because I finally found a community of women that I belonged with. A Sisters of Spirit kind of thing. Eventually public message boards bit me in the ass and that sure wasn't/isn't fun. Snarky people, ones that have to find someone to put blame on, and there are also the attention seekers that get pissy when you get too much attention, not them. Whatever!I've got a harder shell up now and don't expose myself there like I used to.

I like coming here. My blog, MY rules! Not that I have made any rules here yet, but if you don't like it then leave! I can ban your IP, or take my sh*t private!
Message boards get this 'democratic' thing going. People think that every darn thing has to be fair and equal. Oh, and please don't ever let a moderator have an opinion, right? Message boards that are private and get a mutiny going suck. Some go with this one and some stay with that one, but either way you end up losing people that you thought were your friends. I do like cleaning out the rif-raff but it still sucks a bit.
Oh, and there are the fence sitters, the ones that don't want to choose a side. They go back and forth and try to ride the line, but I really wish that they would just choose! Sometimes their topics bleed into one group from the other and then people start talking about posting at the other place. If you're going to post there and not here then shut up about it here! At the very least please don't insult us here and tell us that you posted there (like a little tongue wagger with the neener-neener crap) where we do not have access. Nor want it.

So, I'm becoming quite content here in blogland. There's a lot of surfing around to find folks that I want to read but when I do find someone then I like then I'm in there with my subscription right away! I have to get better at my blogroll and add some more of you there because I keep going back and some of your writings influence some of mine. I promise that I'll get right on it, ok?
I have to go paint now. Daddy told Jabber that I'd help him and the only way to get some peace today is if we get the last primer coat on his 'new room'. Yayyy!

Yes, I'm going to Blog The Recession too!

For the rest of this month Motherhood Uncensored (and I've got to say here that she really is delightfully uncensored) is declaring that we all Blog The Recession. This means that it would be really nice if you'd do your part by clicking through your feed readers and bloglines and read directly from our blogs. Do this for all your blog friends if you can. And thank you!

"If you read blogs, then for the month of August, make the "pledge" to click through from your feed reader. No obligation to leave a hilarious comment or send a long stalkerish email (although both, within reason, are always lovely). Just click through to the blog (not on ads unless you are so led) and if you're feeling generous, click around to their older posts."--Motherhood Uncensored

I realize that I have a visitor or two here that subscribe just to my "Steps" label and you may never see this, but if by chance you do then maybe you'll find even more interesting blogs on her list when you check out the post! That makes me want to throw the "Steps" label in there just to grab ya, but I'm going to play fair. For now!

Yes, I read what she said about the comments but I'm getting thirsty for some interaction here! Post your blog link in my comments and let me find you if you think we might find any of the same stuff even vaguely interesting! I need something more than my own issues to distract me!

Not that I think

"all that" of myself here, but I figured that just in case anyone pokes their head in here trying to see where I am I'd leave a note here!

My lovely laptop is fritzing out on me, again. It seems that there's a problem with the graphics card or just with the screen, but the last time I got it fixed this is what I had going on. I don't think it's misbehaved when the tech got a hold of it though (thought that then too) so now it's just tired and misbehaving again.

I took it with me for the weekend and this one was very busy. I took Daisy and went to visit family with young kiddos and she had a blast! We also went into the city and met with an internet friend of mine that I haven't met before. I've known this gal for 4+ years online and we chat by phone a lot too. There's a lot more to our friendship than that, but I'm not trying to make this a long post.

While we were out of town a close local relative had her baby prematurely at 30 weeks. Her DD is the tiniest little munchkin, but she's fine and just needs to grow. She weighed just under 3 lbs at birth and had enough time for the steroid shots to help mature her lungs to do their job so she is not having any extraordinary struggles. I'm the lucky one with the coolest camera to take photos and movies so I've been summoned to the hospital for special events like bath, weight checks, etc. It will be several weeks before she is able to leave but she is doing very well, and her Mom is too!

Glory called yesterday and is asking for help to come home for a visit. She needs $$ now for a ticket but by the time she gets here she'd be able to pay me back. It turns out that she can't come for a minimum of 2 weeks because of her job and that if she left now she'd be forfeiting almost $2,000 in commissions for this past month, so that's just too much $ to walk away from. It seems that she needs a break from being the responsible person and she'd like Glory-Be to get a little wake-up call while she's gone. Let's just say he needs a job and leave it at that for now.

So, I'm not sure when I'll be checking in and out here. I'm am SO going to miss being able to go and read all of the rest of y'alls blogs in the meantime. Please feel free to leave me a comment or email if you blogged something that is SO up my alley that I have to read it first! I'm using the kid's computer right now and Jabber is a little uptight about this, and the darn thing is so slow that it takes me forever anyway to process anything here. So, hopefully there will be some magical occurence in the next day or so and I don't get too far behind. If you don't see me posting then I fell into that black hole of computer doom, and am trying to crawl my way back up.
